Immersive Design Labs to Showcase Microphones and 7.0.4 Array at AES Nashville

Visitors to Booth 608 can explore the IDL-3203 and IDL-3103 microphones for stereo and immersive recording, alongside the complete 7.0.4 Immersive Capture Array.

Nashville, TN, October 13, 2026 — Immersive Design Labs (IDL) will exhibit at AES Show Nashville, taking place October 30–November 1 at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center. Sharing Booth 608 with Dangerous Music, IDL will showcase its microphones and 7.0.4 Immersive Capture Array.

Available individually and as matched pairs, the IDL-3103 1-inch and IDL-3203 ½-inch microphones can be used for mono and stereo recording, as well as in multi-microphone immersive arrays. They exhibit no proximity effect and provide an accurate frequency response from 20 Hz to 20 kHz, making them suitable for capturing a broad range of musical instruments. These characteristics, combined with session calibration, help engineers capture the natural sound field and the balance between direct and reflected sound when working with stereo pairs or immersive arrays.

Designed for direct-to-immersive capture, the IDL 7.0.4 Immersive Capture Array brings eleven microphones together in a calibrated geometric configuration. The system captures direct and ambient sound, preserving the spatial relationship between performers and the room for Dolby Atmos, Sony 360RA and other immersive formats.

IDL’s Nashville appearance follows its September 24 event with the AES Boston Chapter at Do No Harm Studios in Leicester, Massachusetts. The session explored the 7.0.4 array within the studio’s variable-acoustic live room and introduced the “Bud Lift,” a remotely controlled system that adjusts the height of the full array relative to the performers and the room.

Attendees are invited to visit Booth 608 on Saturday, October 31, and Sunday, November 1, to meet the IDL team as they share the techniques and acoustic principles behind immersive capture, including how microphone placement and room acoustics shape a recording.
