Oxford, UK, November 7, 2024 — Following the successful launch of 360° Link V1 earlier this year, Solid State Logic continues to update its groundbreaking SSL 360° platform with the new SSL 360° Link Bus Compressor Plug-in and Link V1.1 update in the latest SSL 360° V1.8 software, which is available free of charge via the SSL website.

With the launch of the new SSL 360° Link Bus compressor Plug-in, users can now map and control any 3^rd party plug-in directly from the Bus Compressor section of UC1. In addition, gain reduction metering from compatible 3^rd party plug-ins can also be assigned to display on the UC1 Bus Compressor meter and Channel Strip gate/comp gain reduction metering (360° Link v1.1), for enhanced visual feedback and seamless control.

SSL includes factory maps for popular 3rd party Bus Compressor style plug-ins from Slate Digital®, Brainworx®, Waves® and Universal Audio®.

In addition to the powerful mapping and metering features noted above, the new v1.8 software also removes limitations on how many Bus Compressor instances may be used with UC1. Now, users can access and control up to 192 instances of Bus Compressor 2 or 3rd party plug-ins via the 360° Link Bus Compressor, vastly extending the power of UC1 and the 360° Plug-in Mixer. The v1.8 update also improves general visibility on the UC1, since at the top area of its screen now displays the name of the hosted 3rd party plug-in when scrolling with the 'Channel' encoder, helping identify different plug-ins within the same track. 3rd party plug-in parameter labels are also visible in the 'Extended' functions menu.

SSL 12 USB audio interface enhancements
In parallel, SSL also announces two significant enhancements to SSL 12 through this software update. Users can now access a 'polarity invert' feature that is now present on the analogue and ADAT input channels, and also mono sum compensation can be adjusted to any value between -3.0 to -6.0 dB. Finally, on the SSL 12, monitoring now automatically dims when the TALK button is engaged.

The ‘hybrid’ hardware/software combination of UC1 plug-in controller and SSL 360° software is the result of decades of console design expertise, providing a 'knob-per-function' control of SSL’s highly regarded 4K E, 4K B, Channel Strip 2 and, Bus Compressor 2 plug-ins. With SSL 360° Link Plug-in and the latest v1.8 update, UC1 users have even greater control over sonic flavours by accessing a much broader palette of plug-ins, providing an almost infinite range of creative options when producing and mixing music.

By using 360° Link, available free of charge in AAX Native/AU/VST3/VST formats via the Solid State Logic website, music producers and engineers can access any plug-in within the SSL 360° environment and its ‘virtual console’ hybrid workflow.
