Solid State Logic and Spitfire Audio Unveil Official SSL Controller Maps for Spitfire's ‘Orig!nals Intimate Strings’ Sound Library

‘Orig!nals Intimate Strings’ sound library plug-in is available now to all U-Series controllers and interface owners with new exclusive mappings for SSL’s UF8 and UF1

Oxford, UK, May 7, 2025 - Solid State Logic (SSL), the world’s leader in professional audio technology, has collaborated with Spitfire Audio, renowned for their expertly crafted sample libraries, to introduce official SSL controller mappings for Spitfire Audio's ‘Orig!nals Intimate Strings’ sample library. These mappings are also compatible with a range of other Spitfire sound libraries.

The newly designed mappings, along with the sound library, are now available to registered owners of SSL U Series controllers—UF8, UF1, and UC1—as well as SSL audio interface users, as part of the SSL Production Pack. Users can access ‘Orig!nals Intimate Strings’ and the exclusive mappings through the ‘Additional Software’ section in the SSL User Accounts portal.

Tailored for SSL’s highly expressive UF8 and UF1 controllers, the new custom mappings for Spitfire Audio bring enhanced ergonomics, increased precision, and seamless integration, offering a truly immersive experience for composers and producers seeking greater expressiveness. Designed to provide tactile control over key instrument parameters, the new mappings unlock deeper movement, dynamics, and emotional range within the Spitfire Audio library, creating a new standard for studio workflow.

"We are delighted to be working with SSL to develop mappings for its line of best-in-class controllers," commented Paul Thomson, Co-founder of Spitfire Audio. Our 'Orig!nals Intimate Strings' samples were all recorded in Lyndhurst Hall at Air Studios, and this collection focuses on the delicate and most emotional aspect of string playing. At its heart, these are recordings of real musicians playing, and the SSL controllers allow users to increase their musical expression for a wide range of possible composition and production applications."

Extending musical expression
By harnessing the legendary SSL engineering with Spitfire Audio’s world-class sampling, users gain unparalleled tactile control over parameters such as expression, dynamics, vibrato, microphone balances and more, giving them a more organic and expressive way to shape soundscapes.

The new mappings and sound library are available now for all new and existing SSL controllers and interfaces owners, and can be downloaded via the SSL user accounts portal for owners of UF8, UF1 and UC1, as well as SSL’s USB audio interfaces including BiG SiX, SSL 18, ALPHA 8, SSL 2+ MKII, SSL 2 MKII, and SSL 12. For more information, please visit the Solid State Logic website.
