Legendary Synth Maestro Peter Baumann's Nightfall Album Release Drops This Friday - Preview Video for "A World Apart"

New video combines instrumental exploration of "A World Apart" with vivid imagery of natural seascapes, sky and space.

Hamburg, Germany, May 14, 2025 — In just two days, Bureau B releases Peter Baumann's Nightfall, the legendary synth maestro's first solo album since Machines Of Desire (2016). Marking the occasion, a new video of the track "A World Apart" has been made available. The video, which contains startling imagery of space, reflective waterscapes, and skies morphing into darkness, is perfectly accompanied by Baumann's performance of deeply droning synths, sweeping pads, and melodic passages.

A defining force in the Berlin School of electronic music, both as a member of Tangerine Dream in their most essential era, and as a solo artist, Baumann has always bridged the cerebral and the cinematic. With Nightfall, he embarks on another sonic odyssey, crafting an atmospheric album steeped in mystery and evocative storytelling. Mixed and additional production by Sebastian Lee Philipp / Die Wilde Jagd. Nightfall, which releases on Friday, represents the latest chapter in Baumann's five-decade journey — an deeply emotional album that embraces impermanence to transport the listener into a series of shapeshifting soundscapes.

Natural imagery has been a part of Baumann's work since the beginning, including during his time with Tangerine Dream. “The cover of Nightfall shows an imprint on a sand dune, symbolising the fleeting nature of our lives, our experiences, our existence,” Baumann explains. “The track titles, as with much of my work, reflect the ephemeral, ungraspable nature of our existence.”

Nightfall will be available on CD/LP/DD, as well as in a limited edition coloured vinyl. For a preview of the album, please access the sampler below:
