Erica Synths Announces its EDU DIY Hi-Hat Eurorack Module

Company continues its percussion-focused 'second season' of educational DIY kits with the mki x es.edu DIY Hi-Hat

Riga, Latvia, December 7, 2023 — Erica Synths announces its latest module in its mki x es.EDU series: EDU DIY Hi-Hat. Sonically, synthesized analog Hi-Hats are pretty fascinating. This is because emulating any kind of cymbal using an analog circuit is a complex process, since the sound a real cymbal produces is not quite pure noise, but also not really harmonic.

Still, a couple classic drum machines like the Roland TR-606 and TR-808 were very successful at this, achieving interesting sounding results that have since become iconic in electronic music. Inspired by this, Erica Synths decided to follow suit and continue its percussion-focused second season of educational DIY kits with the mki x es.edu DIY Hi-Hat.

EDU DIY Hi-Hat: Part of an extended education focused system
Erica Synths and Moritz Klein's educational DIY kits (mki x es.EDU) were developed with with one specific goal in mind: to teach people with little-to-no prior experience how to design analog synthesizer circuits from scratch. Rather than just soldering and racking, these kits were mean to take users through the entire circuit design process step by step, explaining the rationale behind every circuit design choice and and how it impacts the finished module.

Each mki x es.EDU kit is simple and is comes with extensive user manuals which can be downloaded separately — this is in lieu of customer support in case your DIY build fails to function or similar.
