Bureau B Re-Issues Silberstreif's Ich suche dein Gesicht, Underground Experimental Synth-Pop

Originally released on Sky Records in 1983, reissue features four previously unreleased bonus tracks

Hamburg, Germany, 24 April 2025 —  Bureau B announces that after more than 40 years, Silberstreif's EP Ich suche dein Gesicht, first released on Sky Records in 1983, is available once again. As a rather unusual release in the Sky catalogue, the duo played flawless synth-pop with German-language lyrics. Their Ich suche dein Gesicht EP sank into obscurity in the flood of 1980s hyper-commercial German new wave releases. The band later became an insider tip however, and the EP was a highly sought-after collector's item. The re-issue on Bureau B is accompanied by four previously unreleased bonus tracks.

An overdue re-issue of a great, rare EP from 1983
In 1983, the major labels were already in the midst of commercially exploiting everything that even rudimentarily fit into the NDW (Neue Deutsche Welle – German new wave) buzzword. With the benefit of hindsight, we can now look back and realize that there were still a countless number of creative bands, projects and artists in the musical underground at that time.

The release by Silberstreif makes it clear that the focus of the German 1980s underground was not only focused on odd and experimental sounds, but also on poppy and melodic ones, too. Listening to these hopeful, almost innocent synth melodies - paired with dark lyrics circling around obsessive male protagonists - one can’t help but imagine how this band re-asserted its artistic freedom by leaning into the musical tropes of sell-out and commercialization – with a subtle subversive middle finger.

The duo play fantastic and timeless synth-pop which is still relevant today, and still gets crowds dancing in trendy clubs between songs by Human League and Grauzone.
