Beatport Expands Partnership with Beatdapp, Adding AI Detection to Further Protect the Integrity of Dance Music

London, U.K., August 12, 2026 — Beatport, the world’s largest platform for electronic music and DJ culture, has announced an expansion of its longstanding partnership with Beatdapp, the music fraud detection specialists, to include AI-generated music identification across its catalogue.

The move expands on Beatport’s existing Content Guidelines: fully or majority AI-generated music is not permitted on the platform and will be withheld at ingestion, with rightsholders notified directly. AI-assisted tracks will be permitted as long as they are majority human-created and will be tagged at the point of ingestion, giving Beatport’s curators full transparency over what they are featuring, while enabling artists to engage creatively with new AI tools.

This policy reflects the sentiment of our DJ community. In a recent survey, 60% of Beatport users stated that they would not play AI-generated tracks in their sets, with the vast majority of these respondents (77%) citing a strict preference for supporting human creators. Only 8% of Beatport users are currently open to playing AI music, while another 13% would consider it if artists and labels are fairly compensated.

Matt Gralen, Beatport CEO said: "Beatport exists to serve DJs and empower artists & labels. This means partnering with our community and providing confidence in what our platform offers. While new production techniques have driven electronic music forward since the beginning, there is a difference between a tool that assists human creation and a system that replaces it entirely. Beatport is built on the former.”

The partnership with Beatdapp extends an existing relationship, which initially focused on streaming fraud detection. Beatport will now deploy two Beatdapp solutions in tandem to address both fraudulent streaming activity and unauthorised AI-generated content. Beatdapp’s AI detection technology accurately identifies AI-generated and AI-assisted tracks and will evolve as the complexity of AI-generated music sources inevitably increases.

Andrew Batey, Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Beatdapp said: “The music industry has always embraced new technology. What's needed now is the infrastructure to bring transparency to the age of generative AI. By combining AI Music Detection with our existing fraud detection capabilities, we're helping Beatport strengthen the integrity of its platform while protecting human creativity and giving artists, labels, DJs, and fans confidence in the music they discover and support.”

Jay Ahern, Chief Strategy Officer, Association for Electronic Music (AFEM) commented: “Beatport’s approach aligns with AFEM’s AI Principles by keeping human creativity at the centre while recognising that not all uses of AI are the same. Human intent and creative control must sit alongside consent, licensing, transparency, attribution and remuneration.”
