ADDAC System Introduces the CV & MIDI to DMX512 Light Control Universe

New ADDAC223 covers all DMX needs straight from your Eurorack system, in a fully configurable and versatile system

Lisbon, Portugal, June 12, 2025 — ADDAC System announces its latest Eurorack module: the CV & MIDI to DMX512 Light Control Universe. Back in 2010, ADDAC released its first DMX module, and now this updated solution is able cover all DMX needs straight from your Eurorack system in a fully configurable and versatile system.

Together with the ADDAC220 Dual Envelope Follower and ADDAC607 Crossover modules, it is simple to create a system for sound-to-light reaction using both audio amplitude and spectrum translation. Such a system features no latency when compared to a digital implementation, as all amplitude detection and spectrum separation is done in the analog realm.

The DMX protocol
DMX (Digital Multiplexing) is the standard protocol used in lighting rigs around the world, - from the biggest summer festival, to the smallest venue, and even for home automation. It is also used to control other fixtures like smoke machines, fans, motors, confetti blowers, sparks generators, even pyrotechnics.
The protocol itself is extremely versatile and simple to use, featuring 512 channels that can be addressed individually and continuously updated. Each set of 512 channels is usually called a “Universe” as multiple Universes can be used in rigs that require more than 512 channels.
Any fixture that features a DMX input and output pair is compatible with this system.

The new ADDAC module features 13 CV inputs, which can be assigned to any of the 512 DMX channels using the configuration webpage using Google Chrome: http://media.addacsystem.com/ADDAC223.
